We’re thrilled to share that our project, HerBrain, has been named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2025!
HerBrain is the first digital twin of the maternal brain. Using machine learning and brain imaging data from pregnant individuals – including our lab lead Nina Miolane, who gave birth last year – the tool models how brain structures change throughout pregnancy and postpartum. This allows expectant mothers to track and anticipate weekly shifts in their brain. The app is currently in development and is expected to launch online by 2027, with the goal of integrating with popular pregnancy apps to give women a clearer picture of how their bodies and brains evolve during pregnancy.
HerBrain builds on data from the Maternal Brain Project, a global initiative led by the Bowers Women's Brain Heath Initiative, and reflects a collaboration across neuroscience, reproductive immunology, proteomics, AI, and psychiatry. Our goal is not only to educate but also to advance understanding of maternal brain health, paving the way for innovations that could benefit all women. Learn more here.
