We are excited and honored that our group was awarded a NIH R01 grant for the introduction of geometric and deep learning methods to enhance 3D biological shape reconstruction. We aim to reveal the shapes of membrane proteins, these biomolecules targeted by over 50% of the pharmaceutical drugs, yet still difficult to image.
We are looking forward to getting started on this exciting research direction! This award would not have been possible without the amazing work of everybody within our collaboration: Cornelius Gati (University of Southern California), Frédéric Poitevin (Stanford SLAC), Khanh Dao Duc (University of British Columbia) and Claire Donnat (University of Chicago). Many congratulations to them!
The research will be funded by the NSF's and NIH's "Joint DMS/NIGMS Initiative to Support Research at the Interface of the Biological and Mathematical Sciences". Details about our award can be found here.
